There are several questions that come up more than others about Jem, and we're happy to answer them all. Here are the most frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about our Sprouted Nut Butters:
Q: Should I refrigerate Jem or store it in the pantry?
A: Either way is fine, though in the fridge, Jem will be more fudge-like, especially the Chocolate Hazelnut Butter. In either case, stir Jem butters with a fork or knife before enjoying, for optimal consistency.
Q: What is the shelf life?
A: All Jem nut butters have a shelf life or expiration date of one year.
Q: Does storing Jem in the fridge prolong shelf life?
A: Slightly, but we don’t advise it past 1 year.
Q: Should I stir Jem before eating? Or Store it up-side-down?
A: We recommend stirring your Jem before eating. Our spreads will sometimes separate, in warmer climates especially, and stirring ensures optimal consistency. Do feel free to store Jem up-side-down, though tops can get a bit messy and it’s not necessary if you’re up for stirring before use.
Q: Is your entire Factory Gluten Free?
A: Yes, we are a Gluten Free facility. We manufacture all our nut butters in our own facility with no other products.
Q: Is your entire Factory Peanut Free or just your butters?
A: We are a Peanut Free facility - We manufacture our Jem’s in a peanut free facility.
Q: How do I read the 'best by' date on the bottom of my jar?
A: The 'best by' date is read as mm/dd/yy. So if you're best by date is 03/17/18, you should enjoy your jar before March 17th, of 2018.
